It should not be surprising that Wiccans nor ANYONE is "responsive" to having their "Golden Calf" destroyed. [img]http://www.the-highway.com/w3timages/icons/wink.gif" alt="wink" title="wink[/img] However, that is the biblical method for witness as can be seen from the accounts recorded for us of the ministries of Jesus Christ, Paul, Peter, etc. One cannot allow an idol to reside in the same house in which God is to dwell. (2Cor 6:16; 1Thess 1:9)

2 Corinthians 10:2-6 (ASV) ". . . yea, I beseech you, that I may not when present show courage with the confidence wherewith I count to be bold against some, who count of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh (for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the casting down of strongholds), casting down imaginations, and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ; and being in readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience shall be made full."

It is when we show unbelievers the futility of their godless religions, philosophies, immorality, etc., that we are then able to show them the truth and way that leads to eternal life in Christ Jesus. Even in the preaching of the Gospel, this method is to be used, is it not? We first bring the law of God to convict men of their sin and sinfulness. And then, should God have mercy upon them and bring new life in regeneration are they then made willing and able to hear of the sweetness of Christ and receive remission of sins.

Far too often it can be observed in the modern church that sinners are allowed to continue in their wickedness and be deemed children of God. They are told, "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life." Or, "God loves you just the way you are!". The truth of the matter is that God is full of wrath against them and they are now dead in sins and destined to an eternal hell for who they are and additionally for what they think, feel and do in this life. The "old Gospel" spoke first of wrath, judgment, punishment, hell, etc. But the "new gospel" speaks first of love, reward, the good life, self-gratification, self-esteem and heaven. Man doesn't need a change of mind..... !!! What he needs is a radical change of nature, which only the sovereign grace of God working by the Holy Spirit can accomplish as He wills.

If you haven't done so before now, I would heartily recommend you read J.I. Packer's [i]Introductory Essay to the Death of Death in the Death of Christ[/i]. This is one of my favorite of favorites which many also have come to appreciate and love as being a statement of not only the efficacy of Christ's atonement, but also of the true Gospel of Christ.
