Given our best scientific theories, factors beyond our control ultimately produce all of our actions . . . we are therefore not morally responsible for them. Derk Pereboom (Living without Free Will, 2001: front flap).

John Byle, Professor Mathematics and Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at Trinity Western University, Langley, British Columbia, Canada, takes an indepth look at this notion of "free-will" from a sound biblical perspective but in a more technical manner as has been typically done. In short, Byle compares a libertarian view of free will with biblical compatibilism, which alone is able to preserve the ultimate sovereignty of God, allow for human freedom, and man's responsibility for his actions.
