I'm not sure why someone mentioned that James is writing to Christians and Paul to unbelievers. I'm certain the person saying that didn't mean it in that way. You are certainly right in that Paul wrote to the churches.
As to losing one's salvation, I do not believe that as I'm a staunch Reformed, Calvinist. When reading the last two verses of the book (James 5:19-20), at first glance it could be read that way. "19 My brothers, if anyone of you wanders from the truth and someone brings him back, 20 let him know that whoever brings back a sinner from his wandering will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins" (ESV)
Since both James and Paul are writing to Christians. Why is it that when studying James, we keep hearing that we need to be reminded that James is writing to Christians? I realize that all Scripture is God-breathed. but I have a lot easier time in reading Paul and John than with James and Peter. That is what I am trying to get at with the thread.
