But after the ascension and Pentecost they never evidenced the slightest doubt as to the right answer. We Christians, as believers in and witnesses to Christ, must be firmly grounded in our understanding of and commitment to the deity of our Lord-not only that we might testify of Him to others, but also for His glory and our spiritual welfare.

An Important Matter

The question is neither merely speculative nor of historical interest alone, and it is far too important to be relegated to an intellectual trial in a philosophy of religion class, or to be glibly and irreverently scrutinized and dismissed by some second-rate academic pundit in the Religion 101 course at a university. It is a question with eternal consequences.

Ligon Duncan, the author goes on to give sufficient evidence not only of the necessity of knowing the identity of Jesus Christ but many proofs to evidence that He is the incarnate eternal Son of the Triune God. Lately I have been reading reports of how many throughout the "Evangelical Christian" community and in various schools and seminaries that the deity of Christ is being downplayed and even denied. Surely apostasy is making its way in unimaginable ways. The biblical doctrine of the Trinity which of course includes the eternal existence and deity of the Son of God is a bedrock doctrine without it there is no Christianity at all. And on the personal level without one confessing with their mouth and believing in their heart that Jesus is the Christ the only eternally begotten Son of the Living God, which is evidenced in a godly life, any profession is spurious and the person is yet dead in sins and under the judgment of God.
