(Fred) I don't think she is on any station. She was referencing an article about Mary Minto, a Christian radio host out of PA, who was fired for discussing how Roman Catholicism is a gospel that cannont save and the Pope is in hell. James White is suppose to interview him next Tuesday on his Dividing Line webcast.

The way I look at it, is his being fired was a blessing in disguise.
As a Protestant pastor, if he is not allowed to say it like it is, according the Word of God, then really what is he left to say?
The radio station said the reason for the firing is because what he said alienates some of their listeners. This indicates to me that the radio station is more interested in numbers than the truth.
If this pastor had said something that was un-Christ like, I could understand him being fired. But based on the evidence I have seen, I don't think he did.

You said the pastor that was fired was named Mary Minto.
Actually "his" name was Marty Minto.

Yes you are correct, but you must admit that I am getting better. In fact I think if it wasn't for the Highway, I couldn’t say that.

I don't mind laughing at myself from time to time.

Myself and several other people I know sent WORD-FM an email, and they sent all of us the following pre-written letter...very interesting indeed...

Quote
Thank you for your email. I'd like to respond to your concerns.

The story in Thursday's Pittsburgh Tribune Review would lead you to believe that we ended Mr. Minto's program because "He questioned if the pope's Roman Catholic beliefs would impede his entry to heaven." This statement did not come from the management of WORD-FM. A similar headline accompanied an AP wire story that unfortunately was not fact checked. We have never placed any restrictions on subject matter for the talk show. Mr. Minto knows that. The decision to release Mr. Minto had been under consideration for an extended period, primarily because of our concern that he tended to unnecessarily alienate listeners; and was finalized well before the pope was in the news. The conclusion that he was released because of his views on the pope is completely without foundation. We regret that you were left with a perception that is false.

We always appreciate hearing from our listeners. Again, thank you!

Thanks Fred, most of the time I forget that I have posted sorry.

I new someone other then Semper had been fired, gotribe assumed it was Semper,so then I assumed she worked at a station also. Which I should never assume We all know the reason for that

Hi Marie,

It seems like this is the standard answer for any firing, "it has been under consideration for a while and just happened to coincide with "whatever" situation caused the problem." I think it would be interesting to hear from Mr. Minto himself!

In His Hands,

Ruth

Marty Minton will be a guest on James White's Dividing Line webcast on Tuesday. I, too, am interested in hearing his side of the story.
