You know its getting hard to be a Reformed Baptist any more. (Now you RBs don't be getting your knickers in a twist and you Presbyterians don't start congratulating yourselves either.) I was talking to some RCC I know and the conversation turned to denominations and when I explained I was Reformed Baptist (I had to explain that) they told me that the RCC now immerses both the infants and the adults. Now this may be a regional thing I don't know the ubiquity of the practice but it has me wondering that if the RCC is going back to the immersion practice (or adopting it take your pick) is it because of the influx of former protestants or is it to pull in former protestants especially baptist? Now perhaps your wondering what this has to do with my first statement. Well part of it is that the current RCC (again this maybe a regional thing) seems to be trying to more like their protestant neighbors, ( some one start sing that song from jungle book please "I wanna be like you...") to fit in, to make us non unique. Here we have Lutherans, Episcopalians, and yes even Baptists swapping pulpits. (Can you say ecumenical? Sure I knew you could). The main thrust is that we are all "Christians" that theology stuff is for those dry dusty characters in the seminaries. Mention things like Trent to them and they accuse you of being unloving or give you that trying to teach a dog to play cards look. {What's the deal with the Ace again}

So is it me or are we losing our distinctness?

We will "dip" the chips and "dunk" the cola.
Unfortunately, it appears that "some" are losing their distinctiveness. Where I am presently living "many" of the churches (not ours) participate in a quarterly preaching and music extravaganza. This is made up of several churches (Baptists, Lutheran, Catholic, Episcopal, Methodists, Presby USA, CoG, AoG, and some others). Normally they have at least two speakers (two different congregations) and have what I would refer to as a choir hoe-down (). People see "different" things in different groups and think it would be "neat" to incorporate "something new" into their worship services. Since, there is a mixture of theology taught "some" think that "everything" is OK as long as you are a Christian. This is indeed a sad state of affairs.
