I did my googling first but did not come up with all the info. Just that he was President of Covenant Seminary and he was listed as a Post-Trib. In the PCA historical center, I saw where there was an ecclesiastical trial but the Box is not online.

The name came across the radar when I was researching Presbyterian Missions International. He was the founder of this missions group. The group is associated with Covenant Seminary, a PCA denom school, but not affiliated with MTW. I was just wondering why.

John,

Okay.... this is a wild guess, but perhaps his "trial" had something to do with either his views on eschatology and/or Christian ethics. From what I have been able to find, he was once the Moderator of the "Bible Presbyterian Church". I also read that he held to Post Millennialism. These two things are not compatible since the BPC is decidedly "Dispensational" (varies it seems), but definitely Premillennial. Thus, on that issue, perhaps this was the subject of his "trial". The other defining factor of the BPC is that it is akin to the "ethics" of Bob's Jones and the modern Fundamentalists, e.g., total abstinence re: alcohol, anti-dancing, anti-card playing, etc. It could be that this issue was related? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

What was confusing for me was the alleged "date" of the trial and the date which he was Moderator of the BPC. IF this trial was over his eschatological views, then something doesn't jive. I was not able to find anything about this trial either. So, IF you are interested enough to pursue this matter, perhaps sending an e-mail to the BPC regarding Rayburn's trial might provide the information you are looking for or at least a reference to where you could find it.
