It isn't my intention to prolong the discussion about John Piper and Christian Hedonism.
However I am trying to understand a comment that was made to me about John Piper. I wasn't able to find out from the author what he meant.

The problem with Piper's position on this particular issue is I think a kind of a-temporal thinking which in effect becomes a kind of over-realised eschatology.

The difficulty is that the 'author' isn't using typical terminology, so one is forced to either ask for clarification or guess what he means. Since I have no way of doing the former, then the best I can do is offer nothing but a guess. shrug

Perhaps what the 'author' is trying to say is that Piper is bringing over things which belong to the eternal state (New Heaven and New Earth) and trying to apply them to the here-and-now. However, even if that was true, it doesn't eradicate the fallacious premise which "Christian Hedonism" is founded upon: "God Is Most Glorified in Us When We Are Most Satisfied in Him." And, that has been discussed here and elsewhere myriad times already. Those who blindly follow John Piper will find no wrong in anything he says or does.

So, there is no need... at least in my own mind, to spend time critiquing "Christian Hedonism" once again. [Linked Image]

Tom,

A couple of excellent critiques of John Piper's "Christian Hedonism" with references to Jonathan Edwards have recently come to my attention and I wanted to make them available to you and others.
