My pastor was telling me how years ago he took a course under JI Packer and for the most part he really liked the course. However, my pastor said that one conversation he had with Dr. Packer left him scratching his head.
Packer asked him if he was Reformed and when he said yes. He asked him another question. "Are you confessional?" My pastor also said yes to this.
Dr. Packer then said: (with a little bit of a frown on his face) "I could never be confessional."
Like my pastor, I am not sure why he would say something like that.
Anyone have any ideas as to why?

Tom

Yes, that "anyone" would be J.I. Packer who most assuredly knows why he could never be confessional. wink

Did some googling and came across this. A visit back in time with the same players.

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotton about that I had previously made an enquiry of that nature before.
I guess I can chalk this matter up to the old adage.
"We all have feet of clay."
