Is there a such thing as an unregenerate Christian?
In any Christian Church there are both wheat and tares. Sometimes tares can look like wheat, but in reality they are not genuine.
I am running into Reformed Christians who claim a person can be a Christian and not be regenerate.

I thought I would add something else that might help get discussion going.
It appears the person is a Paedo-Baptist, and if I understand what he is saying properly. He is saying that me and others being Credo-Baptists will not acknowledge that there are indeed unregenerate Christians.
Had he said unregenerate false Christians, I would have no problem at all. However although I acknowledge that a false Christian may seem regenerate to everybody but the Lord. In actuality unless I am missing something, an unregenerate Christian is an oxymoron.
Hope that help, get some discussion going.

Let me answer you with an analogy... Is there such a thing as a dead person who is alive? Or, put the other way around, is there such a thing as a living person who is dead? Yeh, yeh.... as to the former, one could answer yes, they are called Zombies. crazy

Hear the words of our Lord:

Quote
Matthew 7:16-23 (ASV) "16 By their fruits ye shall know them. Do [men] gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity."

Also, see here:

What Should We Think of the Carnal Christian

Many Paedobaptists hold to the heresy of "Presumptive Regeneration", whereby covenant children are to be presumed to be regenerate, despite the fact that they show no fruit of the Spirit in their lives. According to them, unless the person sometime in their life repudiates the Christian faith, they are still to be presumed to be Christians, which is totally contrary to Scriptural teaching. Others go even further and espouse the heresy of "Baptismal Regeneration", some of whom are Credobaptists.

AgaIn, see here:
The Bible's Answer to the Question: What is a Christian?
What is a Biblical Christian

Lastly, it is sound biblical teaching that within the visible church, the tares will grow among the Wheat (Matthew 13 :24-50) and it is sometimes impossible to know for certain where a particular individual belongs.

Thank you for that answer. It is basically the answer I was using all along.
I did suspect these Paedo-Baptists believe in presumptive regeneration, but they did not reveal it. They indicated however that the only reason I disagreed with them was because I am a Baptist.
Which makes it sound like they believe all Paedo-Baptists agree with them.

I am a little reluctant to take this further; mainly because I remember years ago on the Highway the big debate on the subject of presumptive regeneration. I am sure you also remember?
