Although I am no Greek scholar, but given that you said "deacon" means "preacher of the word". I find that an odd translation, since I see nothing in the Bible that says anything about deacons preaching the word.
Perhaps you can show me where in Scripture you see a precedent for a deacon preaching?
My understanding of the word "deacon" is that it means servant.
