I am having a hard time with this concept of contemplative prayer. I see in the bible where there are examples of people, even Jesus, getting alone in a solitary place to pray. We are told to pray in secret. There seems to be a fine line between mysticism and true contemplative prayer. Can anyone help me out on this. The current discussion on "contemplative prayer" within Reformed circles is in regard to those individuals, e.g., Tim Keller and others, who have integrated Catholic mystical practices into their respective congregations, cf. Keller's Mysticism. 3. Contemplative Prayer is typically associated with Mysticism. Once you share YOUR definition and understanding of "contemplative prayer", which you believe has a place in the Church, we will better equipped to have a more informed and hopefully meaningful discussion.
