I am not sure what it is like in the States. However here in Canada, there are still places they require you to wear a mask.
I take the attitude that although I do not believe they work and they are so inconsistent on the issue; it is not an issue I am willing to make a big deal about.

I have a Christian friend however, who refuses to wear one regardless and told me, nobody has said anything to him about it.
In my friends words: “I don’t want to live by lies and strengthen their lies.”

In other words, he believes that if I wear a mask I am “strengthening their lies.”

My mind however goes back to a number of incidents I experienced, when people were not wearing a mask.
Others absolutely freak out on them and I thought there could be a fight.

My friend said that is their problem, not his. He said if there was one thing his dad taught him, is not to be a pushover.

I agree with him in principle; but I do not think this is an issue that I am willing to do that.

Any thoughts on this?

Yes, there are a very few places, at least in our area, that require or recommend masks. I do not wear a mask anywhere EXCEPT one place. And if some clerk or manager tells me I MUST wear a mask I simply leave and inform the individual that I will patronize another store to get what I need. The one exception for me is the VA Medical Center (Veterans Hospital) which from time to time do require a mask which they provide. Since they are a federally run facility, the Medical Center MUST comply. Having said that, many (most?) of the nurses and doctors reject the lie that masks are necessary or even contribute any positive effect in the transmission or infection of any of the COVid variants. In fact, one individual at my VA Medical Center brings me into the room, closes the door and immediately removes the mask and smiles.

The places I am referring to in Canada that require masks are places like doctors offices, and other medical places such as x-ray or even optometrist office.
I was surprised however, that my last dentist appointment, I was not required to wear a mask anywhere.

They are so inconsistent in their rules, it is silly.

More concerning my friend; he did say that if he was in a medical appointment and he would not be served without a mask, he would comply. However, if someone in the office such as another patient, got mad at him. Although he would try to be polite about it, he still would not put a mask on.

As I indicated earlier, I have witnessed incidences where something like that almost caused a fight.

As for masks being effective. Like you, I believe they are not effective; but the official government health authority still says using their studies, say masks are effective when used properly.
