Greetings to all the Highway users, I am curious if any of you here may have had a favored Christian radio program or maybe even a favored secular talk show host that you listened to on a regular basis? I would imagine that those who can relate to my question recall how eager you were to listen each day, even to the point of arranging your daily schedule so that you can be free to listen. Then, one day, you turn on your station, and that favored radio program has been replaced. The program that you benefited from so much is gone with out any sort of explanation. Remember the emptiness you felt? That sour feeling of loneliness that was once filled by the teaching of your favored teacher, or the opinions of your respected radio host?
Well, on a even more personal level, this could be the genuine feeling of many of you when on one morning, you click on your internet browser, hit your bookmark button, scroll down to the "highway discussion board" link, and after a 30 second delay of your computer failing to locate the website, that annoying "page not found" message comes up. You think to yourself, "Oh, there must be something wrong with the server, I'll check back later," but alas, after a week of vainly trying to link to the Highway, that horrible feeling sinks deep into your heart: "The Highway must be gone!"
This is a potential reality folks, one that is closer than you think. Though Pilgrim and the other moderators do not solicit funds on a regular basis, a website like this one is not the cheapest thing to maintain. It costs money. On occasion, a request to help support the Highway is posted, but sadly, only a scant few actually respond. That is sad, because it demonstrates a general ignorance of the cost of maintaining a highclass site such as this one, as well as how people take the existence of this site for granted. Surely it will not take this webpage going away for us all to realize the importance of helping out monetarily with its maintance. Many of us benefit from it daily. Do you not enjoy the fellowship? the meeting of new friends? the challenge you receive from fellow believers in your own personal walk with God? The things you learn from one another? I am a non-CT baptist among mostly prebyterian baby sprinklers, and I get blessed all the time from the interaction I have with them. If anyone is benefiting on a daily basis from the interaction you receive on this message board, then I implore you to reach down into your wallet, handbag, purse, and spare 5, 10, maybe even 20 dollars, to support the administrators who maintain a site we all hold dear to our hearts. Obviously this site means something to you or you would not bother hanging around and checking it regularly. If you have a problem with paypal, then contact Pilgrim and get an address you can send a check to; that is what I did.
At any rate, please consider the gravity of my words, or one day soon, you are going to be left with no Highway website and then you will regret not helping.
Thanks Fred
