Jesus Heals a Blind Man at Bethsaida 22And they came to Bethsaida. And some people brought to him a blind man and begged him to touch him. 23And he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the village, and when he had spit on his eyes and laid his hands on him, he asked him, "Do you see anything?" 24And he looked up and said, "I see men, but they look like trees, walking." 25Then Jesus[c] laid his hands on his eyes again; and he opened his eyes, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. 26And he sent him to his home, saying, "Do not even enter the village."
I have always wondered about the significance of this passage. Why was the man healed "in stages"? I know that it was not because Jesus could not do it immediately and there is something significant about this healing, but I don't know what that is. And why did Jesus lead him out of the village and tell him not to return?
Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to God's love and the future to God's providence." - St. Augustine Hiraeth
