Here is a quote from Os Guiness in an interview on Confronting Evil

He says "More recently, we have a generation of postmodernism, so that in some circles there is the bizarre idea that it's worse to judge evil than it is to do evil."

I have been thinking that it should not surprise us that the world acts the way it does and that what should surprise us is when Christians act the same way. Os Guiness helps to bring a perspective on evil in our world that helps to make sense of what has happened here. I think that the judge is certainly basing his judgements on his personal worldview and that he rejects what we see as just punishment of this crime as being worse than the offense itself.
