Paul,
These sorts of things do seem to be popular with dispensationalists who are expecting the temple to be rebuilt.
The portrayal of the tabernacle & temple is interesting nonetheless, and gives one a good feeling of what these things might have looked like. This particular portrayal had the cherubim rendered as sphinx-like creatures which is the first I've ever seen.
Still, for all the grandeur of these Old Testament places of worship, what I was reminded of is how relatively simple it all is, when compared with the far greater materiality of the pagan worship of the day. But these were only the copies of heavenly things; since the ascension of Christ, what seems today to be our plainer worship is actually worship in which we are lifted into the heavenlies to worship God together with the saints of old and with the heavenly hosts. How much more glorious than all the marble, gold, and precious stones!
Kyle
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified.
