The first subject that needs to be broached is: Does Scripture teach that God has ordained that every human being is sacred, i.e., humans are created in the image of God? If one wrongly takes the life of a human being is there a severe penalty for committing that crime/sin, aka: murder?
Secondly, Does Scripture teach that men (generic) are not only permitted but even counseled and even commanded to arm themselves in order to defend themselves and others in order to preserve their life? OR, does Scripture teach passivism, i.e., we are to allow anyone to harm or even kill us without offering any and/or all resistance in defense?
Now, once you establish one of those two presuppositions it is an easy task to establish if "guns" are something we are to own and use.
