I just noticed a Christian friend of mine posted something that quite frankly I am not sure what to think about.

Quote
So my friend left her cart behind and walked out of Kamloops Walmart when the 3 cashiers were busy and she refused to go through a self check out as it replaces people who needs jobs.

She did nothing wrong, morally. But I seriously doubt her actions will change anything. They might even exacerbate what she found objectionable.

Personally, I am not even certain Walmart is doing anything wrong.

I AM certain that Walmart is doing nothing 'wrong'. Taking her reasoning down the road, then she should not do business with 99.99% of the companies that currently exist since machinery and technology have replaced what previously a human being once did. But, jobs are still available and unfilled in many places. Sounds like she was in a hurry and didn't want to wait for a human checkout clerk to do their job? [Linked Image]

Actually I have been hearing this kind of sentiment quite a bit lately. It usually involves self serve checkouts.
For example, my wife and I had a friend stay with us. We went to Walmart to pick up a few things and when my wife headed to the the self serve check out; our guest started to get upset saying “you are taking away peoples jobs etc...,I would never do that!”. Then he started telling about how his employer is doing the same thing.
My wife and I not wanting to create a scene, just rolled with it.

Unfortunately, it looks like Christians seem to be the people I am noticing that are like that.

1. Wages employers are forced to pay, in far too many cases, is surely one of, if not the primary push to bring in self-checkout machines.
2. The cost of living in Canada is outrageous due to its Socialism politics, e.g. "Universal Healthcare".
3. The widespread control of the work force; wages and benefits, hurts small business owners as well as large corporations which look for ways to maintain a profit.

Why not protest the REAL problem??? Socialism has never worked. Corporations, businesses and the majority of working citizens are robbed of their hard-earned incomes by the government to feather their own nests, retain power over the people, and give a portion of the stolen money to those who have not, many of whom are lazy and have no desire to work. A cursory look at those who are running the government should be convincing in itself to realize the corruption and self-serving policies which are forced upon the citizens of Canada. Throw these people out and work to establish a free society. grin
