If you have a fir or a spruce, you can expect to have a lot of fallen needles and lots of OUCH!
I would suggest getting a pine tree, if you cut about an inch off the bottom of the tree with in an hour before you set it up and make sure it stays watered; needles should not be too much of a problem.
