I'm thinking - is power (control) a subset of pleasure (hedonism). If we look at it that way, how do we explain that reasoning. I'm thinking that it could be the other way around. In other words whenever we willingly sin, including the times that the sin is to satisfy a carnal pleasure---we are really acting in rebellion against God. We are in effect saying, look, I'm powerful enough to do as I please even if You don't like it. So it is in a certain sense a power trip---a foolish and dangerous power trip to be sure.
