There can be little doubt that 1 John 2:2 is one of the all-time favorite passages quoted by those who embrace "Indefinite Atonement" (aka: Universal Atonement). The problem most always comes down to improper exegesis of a passage/text. And so it is with this verse that it is rendered wrongly to mean something it was never intended to teach. Probably the best exegetical study on this text and several others which are likewise used in defense of "Indefinite Atonement" was done by Dr. Gary Long.
