Another misunderstanding is the issue of soul sleep, I got some strange looks on that one too. People just do not think on these things and accept whatever sounds good or what they hear. As I pointed out, it is the body that requires sleep/rest, our souls do not sleep nor do they need sleep, spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Soul sleep is an error many in the church believe. Some misinterpret the final resurrection as the resurrection of our souls when they were already resurrected the day we were united to Christ (it is sad that Christians do not understand the impact of this statement!!) Eph. 2:6. They fail to understand that there are actually two resurrections, our soul, which already took place in Christ and our bodies Rom. 8:23. Things like this are hardly ever spoken of from the pulpit and so many go about life without any idea of who we are and what the future has in store.
