I preached one titled,

"Yes, the Devil is Bad, But it;s a Good Thing There's a Devil!"

Satan is our enemy but ultimately not God's enemy in spite of the hatred. It's like the meme that goes around the internet with people being mad at the first Adam for messing up the whole world. What will you say to Adam when you meet in eternity?

I will say,

"Thank you!"

Because without his rebellion and fall, including all the horrific consequences that proceed from it, we never could have known how deeply and awesomely God can love. Especially treasonous, sinful, puny little critters made of dust, yet in His image. We never would have known how God the Son could offer Himself to bear the wrath and curse of God as a substitute for sinners - to redeem and restore them.

Satan and evil and sin and tragedy are tools that God has used to demonstrate the sinfulness of sin, the horror of everlasting death, the justice and mercy of God, and His unfathomable capacity to love the undeserving.

I still love listening to Dr. Gershner's lectures.
