Hello there <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Is there an article or something that speaks about repentance. What it means, what it means to us today, how it is to be done etc etc.

I am finding that I get stopped every single time I try and pray. I get stuck on trying to figure out what to repent of. I'll ask God if I was wrong for getting in a certain mood, or getting upset for something, or for saying something that I didn't think was wrong..or saying it the wrong way. For so long I've been doing that, but have recently been thinking that maybe those things are NOT wrong! I know I'm not perfect, and I know also that I, like any human, has a great tendency toward self righteousness and pride. I would really rather err on the side of caution, but on the ohter hand, if we are repenting, we are saying we won't do that thing anymore, or will try very hard to not do that again. But if it's not wrong.. well.. it's like a viscious circle, and even that can lead to false humility and self righteousness.

I know Mark was reading something by Jay Adams on not asking forgiveness for something we are not convicted of. And Susan's one post really changed my life in this area. I am so thankful to God eh.. SO I guess I would really like some thoughts in this area.

Sure hope I made sense! Thanks..

Michele

Michelle,

There is an excellent study by Arthur W. Pink here on the-Highway which addresses the necessity of repentance, the nature of repentance, the implications of repentance, and the fruits of repentance. I know you'll find this helpful.

True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin
