Yes, the post title is true. Bearing any unforseen events, John MacArthur is suppose to be interviewed on TBN by Kirk Cameron Thursday, Sept. 2, 2004 at 6 - 8 pm Pacific Standard Time. I am not sure exactly what the format is going to be, but it may prove to be some interesting discussion. I thought I would pass this along to all my friends here.

I don't have cable, so I was (er, can I say this) "pleased" to see I could watch it online at the TBN site.

Concidering his comments at Ligonier about TBN, it is surprising that they let him anywhere near their building!
(Fred) Yes, it is one of those weird fluke things. Kirk Cameron is a big fan of John (he once applied to Master's seminary, but never persued it), and one of his goals, perhaps a tad naive, is to reform Christian TV, beginning with TBN. He invited John to be on his particular program that he has on TBN, so John won't be interacting with Jan and Paul and the other wackos. Darlene Johnson (Phil's wife) was telling me that Kirk insisted that the studio remove the big golden throne chairs that are displayed on the PTL set and replace them with normal furniture, which is apparently going to be done. No word as to what the format is going to be as of yet, but more details may come forth as the week goes on. Any rate, it may be a good thing, who knows.

I think there's a better chance of Dave Hunt and Lawrence Vance becoming 5-point Calvinists!
Still, I greatly appreciate and pray for MacArthur's efforts.

Where would one start?
On one's knees, praying for conversions, no doubt...
Is D. James Kennedy doing anything to try to change TBN? I haven't been following him, ever since I got off his mailing list because he sent numerous "Make America Christian" mailings.

One update: Note that the time is 7 pmnot 6 pm as I stated above. Apparently the taping begins at 6 pm, but will begin airring at 7 pm. Also note that all times are Pacific Standard Time. And, John is suppose to be on for about 30 minutes of the two hours. Hopefully it will be toward the beginning.

Well, you know how the world is round, right? The world is apparently 24,000 miles or so in circumference and spins around 1,000 miles an hour on its axis. That means it does a complete rotation every 24 hours or so. Thus, each 1,000 miles is broken up into a time zones that add an hour to the previous zone as a person goes east (except those weird third world countries where they have a 30 minute time zone). Any how, if it is 7 pm on the pacific coast, that means that those in the central coast region (roughly 2,000 miles further east) would add 2 extra hours to the pacific coast time. So you're looking at 9 pm. Oh, if you live in AZ, HI, or IN, your state does not practice the day light savings time thing, that may impact your caculation.

Thanks very much for that...very long-winded way of saying "9:00". My girlfriend is making fun of me for it as well. hahaha
Oh, now she is just your "girlfriend"...not fiancee???
This should be moved to chatterbox Cafe, I'm guessing.

Oh we were never engaged to begin with. We'd just talked about marriage one day and a couple of times after that. We are still very much moving in that direction, but we have slowed down considerably as well cuz we were beginning to dwell too much on what could be instead of what is right now. Things are still good though and we are still very happy.
Is this on that "Way of the Master" show with Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort? Does John MacArthur approve of this ministry?

Yes it is. Apparently, it is a special thing that TBN is allowing Cameron and Comfort to do. Both of those guys have good intentions with their efforts to bring biblical teaching to what is otherwise a terrible network. However, as I lamented previously, I think Kirk is being a tad naive to think he is going to have such a positive impact.
As to whether or not John agrees with the ministry "The Way of the Master," I haven't spoken directly to him about it. Kirk is a fairly solid guy who use to attend our church years ago. For me personally, I think he and Comfort go overboard with the 10 Commandments being the end all of all starting place when sharing the gospel. Paul never appealed to the 10 commandments with the Gentiles in Acts 17. Though I would agree that the law has a relevant place in an evangelical encounter, I do not think a person must start with it (meaning the 10 commandments) at all times.

I've only seen the show a couple of times, and I kinda like it just cuz the doctrine of the show seems to be sound. The ten commandments thing I did not know about though.
I am gonna watch the show, if TBN will come in clear enough. We don't have cable and so we have to use the antenna to pick it up. Sometimes it comes in very clear, other times it doesn't. This is going to seem odd, but I am gonna pray that TBN come in clearly so I can watch the show and see what's up.
And I can't believe I just said I'd pray that TBN comes in clear...
