It seems that some Americans are taking it upon themselves to punish Canadians for their governments stand in the war.<br>Here is something from a friend:<br><br>"My sister and her husband dropped by last night and some of my brother inlaw's family just got back from motor-homing throughought the States. <br><br>Apparently they were refused service at several restaurants and almost ran out of gas b/c some gas stations wouldn't sell them any for their motorhome. This was all b/c they had British Columbia license plates.<br><br>Needless to say they were very upset and were glad to finally make their way back up across the border. I'm sure we'll be hearing more stories about coming out about these things in the near future.<br><br>Obviously they didn't starve to death and someone eventually sold them gas for their motorhome so not all businesses are refusing service to Canadians but some are."<br><br>I have also heard reports that Canadians not able to buy from ebay.<br><br>Tom

Wes<br><br>I don't think it is fair to punish all because of a few.<br><br>Not to mention that I don't believe that what these people did is legal.<br>Would they get away with it, if they did it to someone of African decent?<br><br>Tom

Well, maybe now that:<br><br><ul>1. WMD were found in Iraq<br>2. that Saddam's regime executed Prisoners of War<br>3. that Saddam's regime has numerous violations of the Geneva Convention<br>4. that Saddam was found to be a liar (as if Canada didn't already know that)<br>5. that 1000s will no longer be executed for their resistance of Saddam's regime
countries such as Canada, Germany, France, and USSR will [color:red]bow their heads in shame and confess they were wrong</font color=red> all the time. Maybe they will quit sending them war materials and other monies NOW. <br><br>If not, well [color:red]THEY all supported killing Americans and others</font color=red> (by their outrageous lies, the sending of materials to fight against Americans and others, and non-support of the coalition) and YOU complain about not getting a tank of gas. You proclaimed to Wes that it was illegal--what of taking a life by supporting your fool-hardy government--how immoral is that? Tom, if the Devil knocked on your door would you shake hands with him? If you support the Axis of Evil then you deal with its consequences! Human nature being what it is what do you expect?<br><br>Do you expect Americans to support your liberal government and lies? Tom, take some initiative and quit complaining about the U.S. (you and your government have done enough of that already) and vote in a new government! If you do not like your government and cannot change it, then move to a more respectable country....I understand Iraq has some free land available!<br><br>BTW, buy a bumper sticker stating you support America and the others and maybe you will see a change in opinion against Canada's pacifism and other crimes! There are many ways to let us know you support [color:red]U</font color=red>[color:blue]S</font color=blue>, try some, we may like 'em!

Tom, Regardless of whether what those who refused service or product to your friend is right or wrong, the point I believe Wesley was trying to make is that there are consequences to be reaped with every decision one makes. When you are living in a democratic society and your "leader" decides what the country is going to do, because you are a citizen of that country, that decision becomes YOURS. Now, some of us are willing to stand up and publicly disagree with our leaders and even criticize certain decisions because they are unbiblical, etc. But if one doesn't speak up IF they are in disagreement with decisions made, then it must be assumed that you agree with them.
Personally, if what happened to your friends happened to me, I would be very quick to inform those individuals who refused service or product that I was adamantly opposed to Canada's official opposition to the United States' war on Iraq and that I was fully supportive of the Americans. If after hearing my PERSONAL position they still refused to provide service or product, I would gracefully accept their decision with full understanding and have no hard feelings toward them. Again, as a Canadian, you are responsible for what Canada does. That's the way a Democracy works. That's life Tom!
Let's face the facts of the matter. The vast majority of imports that come into Canada are from the U.S. In fact, I would be so bold as to state that without the U.S., Canada would be hard-pressed to able to function as a country as it has for 100's of years. The country is totally incapable of providing for itself and NEEDS the products and services of the United States in myriad ways. One would be a total fool to think that to refuse to support the U.S. in this war with Iraq that it could then turn around and expect to able to get bids to help in the restoration of Iraq when the fighting is done. In other words, to make millions of dollars from a war which it was adamantly opposed to. This is the height of hypocrisy. But then again, that's one of Canada's "virtues".
If Canada truly opposed the war on moral grounds, which is impossible to believe given the immorality that Canada has openly deemed "legal", etc., then it should also be willing to accept the consequences of that stand. I speak from personal experience as well. I have made some decisions in my life which I KNEW would bring grievous consequences. But the decisions I have made were based upon biblical, moral grounds, then those consequences were and are something I had to be willing to expect and accept, even though they too (the consequences which came about) were wrong. Bienvenue au Canada! ![[Linked Image]](http://www.the-highway.com/Smileys/Cdnwave.gif) In His Grace,

If not, would you clarify it? It sounds like you are saying that a biblically based, morally grounded decision you made was wrong- please explain?

Joe<br><br>While I am not happy that my government didn't support the U.S. in this war, but I for one am glad to be a Canadian. (I really don't care what you think of that statement)<br>I really don't care to discuss this further because of the obvious emotion it brings. However, this is a very sad day when Canadians and Americans don't get along, both nations suffer when this happens.

Well, it was probably worded too vaguely so at your impetus, I edited the last sentence in the hopes that is clearer now what I was actually meaning to say. If that doesn't clear it up, then let me know and I'll try again! <br><br>Thanks,<br><br>

Tom,<blockquote><font size=1>In reply to:</font><hr>[color:"blue"]I don't think it is fair to punish all because of a few.</font><hr></blockquote><p>It must've taken real conviction to send away a paying customer in this economy. <blockquote><font size=1>In reply to:</font><hr>[color:"blue"]While there are many Canadians who are contentious toward the U.S. most are not.</font><hr></blockquote><p>As you are well aware, Tom, I live in Canada too. And according to all the polls, the VAST majority of Canadians are opposed to the action taken by the United States. Thus, the statistics are contrary to your claims. Even some of the Canadian politicians, being true to form, have uttered rank and even vulgar statements against the U.S. While many of the other politicians voiced their disapproval, they still voiced strong opposition against the War. The "Reform Party" has been the ONLY official political party to oppose the government and its decision. The facts speak clearly enough concerning what the majority of Canadians think about the U.S., both before the War and even more so now. You are just going to have to face reality brother and accept the fact that this country is a god-forsaken one and has now made a major blunder with its self-serving agenda.
