Anyone know of good churches of the reformed presbyterian persuasion in New Orleans? I know of Desire Street Fellowship Mission and found a Christ Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Anyone know anything about these, or know of other solid reformed churches in N.O.? TIA!!

Shelly,

IMO, if it's an Orthodox Presbyterian Church it is probably a good one. The OPC was founded by J. Gresham Machen although, like many other reformed churches today, it is not without present controversy surrounding the teaching of "Justification by Faith Alone". The OPC has conservative roots and believes in the regulative principle for worship.

I know Rev. Mo Leverett. He has a fantastic giving heart and has done a lot not only in the area of preaching to his community, but transforming it as well by the grace and love of Christ. Even if you decide not to attend there make sure you sit down with Mo and have him tell you his story ....

Yeah, I've heard great things about Mo. He will actually be speaking at our church Missions Conference this year! Actually, I am wondering for someone else. A young friend may be going to college down there. He'll need a good church community to really come around him and disciple him. He comes from a very solid reformed family. Do any of you know what the demographics are of these churches? (e.g. I know that Desire Street is an outreach ministry largely to inner-city street kids...)
