Note that he is primarily an apologist, not a theologian.

How can one be an apologist without being a theologian? (How can one be a Christian without being a theologian, which is an even bigger question.) Especially since the best way to tell a counterfeit is to know the real thing!

I'll grant you that. We must all be theologians in some sense.
I suppose what I was saying is that since Koukl tends to limit his 'output' to issues of apologetics, I haven't been exposed in real depth to his theology. I believe I've seen enough to know that I would only find issues of the form that can be overlooked....but then again you don't know me well enough for that to satisfy you.

OK. *Sighs deeply, rubs forehead*

Does anyone actually have a straight answer to "Does Henry Blackaby has wonky theology and why?"

Perhaps you have not heard, the World Wide Church of God has moved closer to orthodoxy since the death of its founder Herbert W. Armstrong.
Back when I was a regular listener (I rarely go there now) to The Bible Answer man, Hank Hannegraff (sp?) did a series on the changes with in that organization.
I can't remember all that much about the changes so, if you are interested you might need to do some research on them yourself.

Now, I'm wondering if you are referring to Gregory Koukl?? I did a bit of research on this man and his education has been at some less than orthodox institutions. Further, Gregory Koukl has been on "Focus on the Family" and also is a regular contributor to The Plain Truth Magazine. Isn't this magazine part of the "World Wide Church of God", founded by Herbert W. Armstrong? In fact, perusing all of the "bios" of the contributors to that site/ministry, none of them have received their respective educations at orthodox institutions. The article to which you referred to may in fact me sound, but from what I have seen, that website/ministry isn't one which I would recommend to anyone.

(Fred) Pilgrim, where did you dig up this info on Greg? Are you sure you it is the same person from Stand To Reason? Is it directly from their site? I know he is affiliated with BIOLA and Greg is an evidentialist in his apologetics. He is also a firm Calvinist(More in the Ligonier vein) and a solid defender of classic Christianity. He just recently whipped Deepockets Chopra's tail on a televised debate on PAX TV.

Apart from his natural theology/evidentialist apologetics and his smoozing with Hugh Ross's toadies, I have greatly benefited from a lot of what he has written. He has a Sunday Bible Answer Man style radio show that is way better than anything Hank offers. His material on the will of God is outstanding and I would recommend it to anyone. The critique of Blackaby is also superb; probably one of the better critiques readiliy available on the net (I think I even linked to it here in another thread).

Here's where I got the info: About Gregory Koukle

Links for the bio's of the others can be found on the main menubar at the top of the main webpage here: About Stand to Reason.
