I was reading the tail end of the excommunication thread and noticed that there was a bit of excitement over a link that led from the ARBC instead or the ASGBC or something like that. Anyway...
So whats the difference? I mean between a Reformed Baptist Church and a Sovreign Grace Baptist Church?

Sovereign Grace Baptist Churches are generally New Covenant Theology. ARBCA churches are Covenant Theology.
True godliness is a sincere feeling which loves God as Father as much as it fears and reverences Him as Lord, embraces His righteousness, and dreads offending Him worse than death~ Calvin

Briefly, CT sees a degree of continuity between the OC and the NC, to establish God’s eternal kingdom through the plan of redemption. The 'covenant of redemption' (Eph 1:4-7,11; 1 Pet 1:19-20, etc) is what undergirds the covenant of grace in CT. There are several threads here at the Highway. NCT is a phrase that individuals use to recognize the belief that the dispensation in the NT has a distinctively new character to it. Some equated it to being a compromise between DT and CT. In principle, they hold that Christ has actually changed God's laws— Here are some articles on CT and NCT. The Highway has this article which is excellent : Eschatological Fulfillment and the Confirmation of Mosaic Law by Greg Welty. Please note that this can be a very volatile issue.

Just curious, ![[Linked Image]](http://www.the-highway.com/Smileys/trustme.gif) since I know "tj", his question was sincere. Some us here are still learning stuff and thus ask such questions. In His Grace,

I listened to a really good discussion on "Understanding the Covenant Structure of Scripture." You can find it here: http://www.oneplace.com/ministries/the_white_horse_inn/It will be available until Sunday. I plan on listening to it again and taking notes next time!
Trust the past to God's mercy, the present to God's love and the future to God's providence." - St. Augustine Hiraeth

Apologies . I thought I remembered threadj posting on one of the Is Fred Malone or Is Dr. Frankenstein Reformed/Dispensationalst/Dispy-Lite threads. It was an honest mistake. Here's to you TJ! You won't have to wait long for an answer.

Of course I meant OTHER than that...sheesh.
(I know the difference between and covenant and a convent but just barely so thanks!)
I know they both claim to subscribe to Reformation Theology. It seems that the difference is in the confessions. The only real experience I have with confessions as such is the Baptist Faith and Message which is a little nebulous. I don't really want a discussion of it but I would like to know about these other ones as there doesn't seem to be that much difference. Namely the 2nd London Baptist Confession (1689), The 1st London Baptist Confession (1644), and the New Hampshire Confession. Are they splitting hairs or reaffirming the same things or what?

No worries ...Yea, it was an honest question and as far as me posting on any of the Fred Malone, Dispy, Dispy-Lite threads...if I did I'm almost positive it was a question. Oh and by the way, thanks for standin' up for me Pilgrim, glad to know I got somebody lookin' out for me I love this board!
