I hear the term Emerging Church used a lot, but could someone please define it for me. Good, Bad, or Indifferent?

gnarley,

I don't remember the flow of discussion, but the term seems to have been thoroughly addressed in the post "Emergent Church".

(Assume that is the same term, or is "Emerging Church" something different?)

"Emerging" or "Emergent" Church is the same thing. I started a second thread about EC here on The Highway a while back and there is a wealth of information at www.whitehorseinn.org as well. The most recent issue of Modern Reformation magazine (July/Aug.) deals with EC very thoroughly and is worth the cost of a back issue if you're curious about this phenomenon.

Also, do a search on Tim Challies site. He has posted a lot of critiques of the Emergent church which are outstanding. I think there are also some extensive critiques at his community blog which you can link from off his main site.

Here is another article that might give additional insights.
