I have been reading Dr Robert Morey's book on the Atonement. He defends the position of the limited or particular atonement. He cites only about five authors who really go in depth on this subject. All of the authors are now dead. So that makes me wonder, is the doctrine of a limited atonement been abandoned in Baptist and evangelical churches today? I watch John Hagee and Charles Stanley on TV and I never hear them preach on it, but they simply tell the viewing audience that Christ has died for you or all men in general. I guess my question is, why have gospel preachers stopped preaching this doctrine?

1) It isn't "seeker-sensitive." 2) They don't themselves believe it. 3) They aren't really gospel preachers.

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified.
The doctrine of "Definite/Limited Atonement" is alive and well on planet earth. There are many who have written on the subject who are still breathing. But once you have read many of the works of deceased authors, e.g., John Owen, Pink, Smeaton, et al, you will realize that these men went into such depth and covered the subject so completely, that there really isn't much anyone could add. Owen's work, The Death of Death in the Death of Christ is so thorough that perhaps nothing more need be said on the subject as far as the extent of the atonement. Have you read J.I. Packer's, Introductory Essay...? If not, I heartily commend it to you.
Secondly, there are very few Calvinist/Reformed men who broadcast on TV or on Radio. I can't speak as to the reason why this is so, but with the overwhelming majority of the programs being broadcast by Pentecostals, semi-Pelagian/Arminians, Sects, Cults, etc., it shouldn't be surprising that you wouldn't hear any mention of "Particular Redemption". That's one of the reasons for the existence of The Highway website and this Discussion Board; to make known and available the doctrines of Scripture to those who love them and/or for those who otherwise wouldn't be exposed to them.
I really like Pastor John Hagee a lot. Quite a few people apparently think he is a fine preacher as well. Have you ever seen the size of his church on TV. It is really huge! I know Bro Hagee preaches the gospel and Jesus Christ. Just this last Saturday(on the TCC-church channel) he warned people of the soon return of our Lord and the judgment of God to come. So I can't agree with you when you say Bro Hagee doesn't preach the gospel. He does.

Well, I'm afraid that according to the Gospel preached by the historic Christian Church over many centuries, John Hagee's teachings and his "gospel" is contrary to it.
Christianity in Crisis by Hank Hanegraaff (from CRI) talks in deapth about the Faith Movement. Though I dissagree w/ Hank on some topics, this book is not one of thoes topics.
Also, Pilgrim, I'm been trying to pin down Limited Attonement my self, can you give me some Highway recomendations to look through?

So. Baptist haven't forgotten it, they just flat deny it. To the average SBC'er: a) Christ died for all. b) Anyone can be saved just by wishing it, then going down front to share their wish and be baptized, which of course conflicts entirely with the idea of the Sovereignty of God.
Go on, try and talk one out of it and see what happens.

doulos there is still a remnant that hasn't bent their knee to Ba'al even among the SBC.

Did that sound bitter? As if I were some tired soldier long fighting a war? No, I am a newcomer to this but the depth of ignorance from which I have recently surfaced still blows my mind.
Indeed bro., you are correct. On average though, it is denied and eyes pop at the idea. I've brought it up in many a Sunday School class and its typically passed over, rejected, or attacked.

Yes bro you are correct in that but keep in mind we are in a fight, we fight against the World's theology with Biblical theology and yes there has been many good denominations that have been corrupted. But be of good cheer (and Pilgrim you'll have to forgive my post-mill enthusiasm here) the main battle is won, we are in the mop up phase until every knee bows and tongue confesses. Keep that in mind.
