What do you think of the Gospel of Judas as National Geographic and other media are promoting as newsworthy? I don't know much except it was written after 100 AD or so.

John,

I find it more than interesting that the National Geographic just a few years ago instituted a new policy to become "more socially meaningful". The new policy was often incorporated into their magazine stories with political and cultural comment. Needless to say, this commentary (including the choice of articles to be presented) was philosophically humanist and often ultra leftist in nature. Their editors must be very proud of this latest attempt to confuse and deny the Scripture canon.

No one really should be surprised by this latest blasphemy.

As far as Judas (and the editors of the National Geographic) goes:

Quote
Woe to the world because of offenses! For offenses must come, but woe to the man by whom the offense comes! (Matthew 18:7)

I don't mind insofar as we can discover more about how heretical the Gnostics were. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bash.gif" alt="" />

But then you have friendly idiots like Elaine Pagels running around talking about how this confirms the "early diversity" of Christian religion, etc., etc. Oh, those evil orthodox! Like WASP males of today, they were OPPRESSORS!!

I'm sure glad to see this thread. I watched something about this on the news last night and it just made me cringe. I heard two things and that was enough for me to turn it off: a. Judas betrayed Jesus because Jesus asked him to do so and b. it was a Gnostic gospel. Heck half of Paul's letters in the New Testament was written against that particular piece of heresy weren't they? Why would we be even remotely interested in how it affects the Bible?

Even so you know there's some folks out there right now just itching to get hold of a copy of this thing so they can stick it in their loose-leaf bibles.

After looking at this thread, I can wholeheartedly agree with the sentiments of people like Joe.
Unfortunately, this kind of nonsense is being used by Satan to discredit the Gospel.
I am however comforted that Satan's schemes can not take away even one of the elect away from coming to Christ.
