...of my bible two Sundays ago. Well the map of Israel did. So when I was in the big town this weekend I bought a shiny new NASB. So here goes the study note's transfer thing right? I think what I'm going to do, instead of a marathon session, is go back through some of my old bibles and refresh my memory of some things and see if they're right. Sort of a theological check up.

What do you all think and have you any suggestions?

Doulos,

Did you buy a NAS version study Bible? If so, you may find that the notes are not written from a Reformed perspective. I don't think Zondervan publishes one. So you may need to overlook some of the commentary. Other than that I think the NASB is an excellent translation and has some very good maps in the back.

No it's not a Zondervan, though thats about all there was on the shelf. 48 versions of the NIV and others like it. This one is a Thompson Chain Reference NASB by Kirk-something. I haven't tried any of the study helps yet but it reads pretty good.

No I went down that Zondervan Study Bible trail two bibles ago. The notes are interesting but, I think purposely, nebulous in places and leave more doubt than help.

I have been using a Thompson Chain Reference Bible (KJV) for years and really like it. It really isn't a "study" Bible in the normal sense of the word, compared for example, to a Reformation Study Bible, Ryrie Study Bible, etc. The majority of "helps" found in the margin are references/links to correlating verses. The publisher is Kirkbride Publishers Company. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Good and better--that Study Bible thing really wears on you after awhile. I read Genesis through Abram receiving the promise yesterday afternoon. I like the text so far and the references and topic chains seem to match up really well with what I'd expect to be next to the verses. Providence again I suppose as I hadn't intended on buying a permanent bible. We shall see...
