Hello all, I have been a member of The Highway for some time now and view it often but have rarely posted. If this post is perceived as inappropriate because it is a site plug, please remove it--I understand entirely. I was born into ISKCON (the Krishna movement) in the 70s and grew up completely isolated and immersed in their doctrine and teachings. Long story short, three years ago I converted to Christianity by the grace of God. Now I am reaching out to some old friends for the first time. I've just put together a blog to share my reflections and testimony. If you know of anyone involved or in contact with the Krishna Consciousness movement, please consider passing this site along to them. Or feel free to check in yourself if you would like to know more about them. The site address is: http://www.fromkrishnatochrist.blogspot.com/Blessings

Solo Christo, I found the tulasi plant blessings and anathemas to be most interesting. Salvation by works is very much like offering thorns and thistles upon God's altar. Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel shall be destroyed. The thorn and thistle shall grow on their altars; They shall say to the mountains, "Cover us!" And to the hills, "fall on us!" (Hosea 10:8) I was also raised in a cult that in many ways was much more deceptive and "far out" than even the Krishnas. The faith of its adherents is overwhelmingly oppressive and deceitful. The trouble and satanic deception is that its disciples don't even know that they're in an idolatrous cult. They make fun of the Krishnas and all other "Religious people" with only two faith based laws of their own. Their stone-hearted faith in these "laws" is played out in their daily lives. 1) No one really knows. 2) The "Church" is full of hypocrites. Getting out of the chains of this cult indeed, requires the divine power of a sovereign, merciful God. We may both thank and praise Him for His deliverance. Denny Romans 3:22-24

Denny,
Glad to hear of your deliverance from darkness. Just out of curiousity, were you converted straight out of this cult, or did you leave the cult prior?

Sola Christos, My point was that the "cult" I was born into was my own extended and very worldly family. It is my experience that the majority of Americans are born into a family much like mine. IMO, Agnosticism is now the "opiate of the people". I really like what Steve Hays had to say about this over at his web site, Triablogue. But I’m too sceptical to be a sceptic. I haven’t the faith to be an unbeliever. Yes, I was converted straight out of this cult, and to this day I am still struggling with my family members who will deny that they are even members of this fashionable and politically correct "cult". Yet, unknowingly, they all claim that they are much too wise to be deceived by "Religion". <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/Banghead.gif" alt="" /> Denny Romans 3:22-24
