Thank you for all the brothers who have responded regarding this festival of the "Christ-mass" so much appreciated. I have the book by Ralph Woodrow called "Babylon Mystery Religion, ancient and modern, which is much clearer than the Two babylons. I suppose we can go on and on. However, as Pilgrim has rightly said, if we do not want to sin, we must do what our God-given conscience tells us to do. Regarding traditions, isn't there a scripture which says that God hates the traditions of men? Sorry I cannot recall it just now.
I do think that the event must be really BIG in the USA. Here, all the christians I know well, do not celebrate it, and it costs to be separate from the crowd. But surely, that is what we are supposed to be. One dear Pastor, many years ago now, used to love having a tree in the church for the children at this time, but once when visiting us, he prayed for God to forgive him bringing strange fire into the building! My very first Pastor, sadly in a pentecostal church, used to close the church at this time of year, because he had been over to the USA and seen the truth of it all! So what are we left with, Pilgrim has given us much to think about, and not many seem to be in agreement with us here, yet we hope that we have all learned something we did not know before. All the glory to God. Love from English Rose

Rose, I do not think it is necessary to go "on and on" since you are quite comfortable with your view of things and others theirs. The one thing which is not up for debate is the command from the Lord which the apostle Paul wrote; the weaker brethren are not to judge the stronger and the stronger are not to put a stumbling block before the weaker. Secondly, you mentioned that you have the book, Babylon Mystery Religion which you said you found much clearer than Two Babylons. But did you read Ralph Woodrow's repudiation of not only that book but his own as well, Babylon Mystery Religion, which Boanerges linked to here: Two Babylons, a book review? Mr. Woodrow exposes the fallacy of Hislop's book and thus his own which was heavily dependent upon Hislop's book. ![[Linked Image]](http://www.smileypad.com/artists/fool/emoticons/158.gif) And lastly, I do hope you will not continue to vilify that which God has pronounced "good", e.g., a tree. For like the apostle Paul, I am convinced that nothing is unclean of itself . . . which God has deemed good in His own eyes. In His grace,
simul iustus et peccator

Thank you, Pilgrim, for your patience with me. No, have not yet read the review of The Two babylons yet but hope to do so sometime. Can only manage little at a time.
You are right, I see no point in going on and on, but its interesting what has been brought out.
Thank you. English Rose

Interesting thread,
I haven't read every post but in my opinion celebrating the birth of our Savior, no matter when the actual date of his birth is a good thing. Mixing elements of commercial Christmas is where I become uncomfortable. AS long as the focus is kept on the birth of Jesus I'm on board. I'm not really into the tree but I'm not sure if it is dishonoring to Jesus to have one - (I read the origins of the Christmas tree somewhere - does it have to do with the Winter Solctice?). I also think exchanging gifts are ok but it shouldn't go overboard.
As for Hislop's book - it's a mess. It's all over the place and I don't know how much credence I can give it.
Woodrow wrote in his review that the Bible is the best evidence against RCC tradition and I agree. But unfortunately there are alot of anti-Catholic bias & propaganda out there that take away from the legit arguments against the RCC.
The mercy of God is necessary not only when a person repents, but even to lead him to repent, Augustine
