Someone's agenda is showing...

So what else is new? Obviously, these money/fame grabbers are counting upon people's ignorance:

Quote
But film-makers Cameron and Jacobovici claim to have amassed evidence through DNA tests, archeological evidence and Biblical studies, that the 10 coffins belong to Jesus and his family.
Now tell me, what are they comparing this DNA to, which they alleged found, that warrants such a preposterous claim? Even Dr. Gil Grissom of the TV show "CSI" couldn't make a case with DNA that it belonged to Jesus Christ, even if it was written in the script!

Quote
Psalms 2:4-6 (ASV) "He that sitteth in the heavens will laugh: The Lord will have them in derision. Then will he speak unto them in his wrath, And vex them in his sore displeasure: Yet I have set my king Upon my holy hill of Zion."
IF this movie is actually made and released, it just might capture an Oscar for "Comedy of the Year" award.

DNA on Jesus? WOW. I wonder to WHAT they are comparing it? DNA to be done right MUST be done using a KNOWN sample. WIthout this it is mere conjecture, or another Catholic rambling

If only those Roman soldiers and chief priests had access to DNA they would have not been so alarmed (Matt 28:1f).

According to what many think is supposed to take place, there should be a few million samples around every Sunday morning after mass. Just find a participant who, for a small "lab fee", would agree to have his mouth swabbed out ...

Several things that you could include:

1. The DNA tests run were mitochondrial DNA tests, which cannot exclude the possibility of paternal relationship.

2. The name Mariamne ws never used for Mary Magdelene in that context. It was a well known name, however: she was the third wife of Herod the Great. As for the Acts of Philip being mentioned, the name Marianme is in that 14th century work, but she isn't Mary Magdelene. Instead, she is described as dying in the Hordan River and turning into a glass box or a cloud of fire.

3. Statistics are another big aspect being trumped. They need to consider that Mary and Jesus were in the top ten Jewish names at that time period. This is a deceitful use of statistics.

James White (no, he isn't the same person as the basketball player) has been responding quite a bit to this the past few days. He's even dedicated a category of his blog to "Tomb Issues." He also plans to write a short book in response to all this.

[Linked Image] Nice write-up.

It's unfortunate that Uberlibrarians are generally held in high esteem, but your "discovery" lacks any credibility whatsoever because after all, who could ever believe a BAPTIST? [Linked Image]

Thanks Maria I added the first two as footnotes. However, stats can be manipulated to prove ANYTHING. I really think they are a non-issue if one looks seriously .... I remember in the same month our PD had to justify MUCH crime -- to get more money and LITTLE crime to calm the public. The fall out was hilarious ... This brief paper in no way is meant to cover the issue entirely -- but just long enough until we get some full length papers in .....
