Just watched a program onTCT called "truth in History". I went to the web and found it was "British Israelism". I thought this heresy died a long time ago. If you want a smogisborg of Heresy just tune in the religious channels.

It's absolutely amazing how stuborn some heresies can be! Most are built on what somebody wishes were true and found a way to validate using a few Bible verses and/or historical events taken completely out of context and applied with wild speculation and wishful thinking.

This heresy is so far out that i cannot understand how anybody could fall for it. Not only that TCT is run by penticostals.Where is discernment. I'm glad I got out of the charasmatic movement a long time ago.Wouldn't a good sound confession of faith that has been around for a long time like the WCF settle the whole issue.Oh but we are FREE we don't want to be bound by a confession of faith.Bound by a confession or FREE by a confession.

Charles Parham, the father of Pentecostalism, was himself a preacher of British Israelism. He found it shocking that blacks and whites worshipped together in the Azusa Street Revival.

I haven't heard of it either so here is what Wikipedia says.

Could you hit the high points of what this teaching involves? The gist is that the British peoples (and their descendants) are the ten lost tribes of Israel, and are therefore God's chosen people. Much of the time it emphasizes that these peoples are responsible to keep the entirety of the Mosaic law (with some modification), and Christ's substitutionary atonement is usually minimized.

Oh yeah, there are people who actually believe it. I know a couple of them and neither will put the Scriptures ahead of their "historical evidence" (read: wishful thinking) to the contary. And by de-emphasizing Christ's atonement, they can see themselves as "in like Flynn" simply because they're "the chosen people," so repentance, faith, and good deeds don't matter to these fools. God help them!
