"Calvinism is the Gospel" BUT has modern preaching led us astray towards the damnation of our never dying souls?

Do we hear preaching today that commands the importance on the Spirits working in our souls?

The old timers didn't preach that way, no sir, that just because we can string a few doctrines together or that we are not arminians we are saved.

We seldom hear even 5 minutes of a sermon emphasizing the bold print in God's Word below?

God help us.

2 Corinthians 5:4 For we that are in this tabernacle do groan, being burdened: not for that we would be unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Ps 42:1 ¶ As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.

Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.

Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.

26 My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.[/color]

"What's Wrong With Preaching Today?" by Al Martin

The area to which I refer, is that of the necessity of setting forth the distinguishing traits of a true believer. Involved in this is the need for clearly stating the difference between the grounds of salvation and the assurance of salvation.
. . . Rather, we are lulling people to sleep through our failure to set before them in a dose experimental way the marks of true faith as opposed to the faith of the demons.

What is Reformed Experimental Preaching? by Joel R. Beeke

Our great need When God's Word is preached experimentally, the Holy Spirit uses it to transform men, women, and nations. Such preaching transforms because it corresponds to the vital experience of the children of God (Romans 5: 1-11); clearly explains the marks of saving grace in the believer (Matthew 5:3-12; Galatians 5:22-23); proclaims the high calling of believers as the servants of God in the world (Matthew 5:13-16); and shows the eternal destination of believers and unbelievers (Revelation 21:1-9), We desperately need a return to faithful, Reformed experimental preaching today.

"Whosoever Will"

IX. The Act of Coming by Rev. Herman Hoeksema

Whosoever will may come! How a sinner can thus come to the Savior we must consider another time. If now it only has become plain that the will to come to Jesus is motivated by true repentance and sorrow for sin, is enlightened and directed by the true spiritual knowledge of Christ as the God of our salvation, is impelled by the mighty longing after the living God and His grace, and expresses itself in appropriating Christ and all His spiritual blessings. And he that so cometh to Jesus shall never be ashamed. For He is included in the word of Christ: "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out."

Sounds like words coming from my mentor A W Tozer. To him, and to me "easy believism is anathema to the true child of God
