I seem to recall having asked this question before, but I couldn't find any threads by searching. Anyway, ...

How are we supposed to read Job? I find it one of the harder books to read. In the conversation between Job and his friends there seems to be a mixture of correct and incorrect thought. It can be hard to disentangle what is right and what is not (of course, some stuff is obviously right or wrong).

Could someone suggest a good commentary on Job as well?

Thanks,
John

Here are some which I have found very helpful:
  1. The Argument of the Book of Job Unfolded, by William Henry Green, D.D. (republished by Banner of Truth under the title, Conflict and Triumph)
  2. Sermons from Job, Calvin's Sermons
  3. An Exposition of Job, by Joseph Caryl
  4. Commentary on the Old Testament - Job, Keil & Delitzsch

I haven't done a search to see if all of these titles are still in print. Most of my library consists of books that were published back in the "good old days". Some of the publishers of these books no longer exist. However, there are some good used book dealers who often have copies of such books.
