How would you try to convince a Christian who in almost every other topic agrees with you.
However, they are convinced that guns are a serious problem in North America. Agreeing with the other side based on the stats they provide.

This person was a big fan of Charlie Kirk, except on that issue.

I asked someone else this question before.
They told me that anyone who would believe that, is a liberal, regardless of if they deny it.

The first subject that needs to be broached is: Does Scripture teach that God has ordained that every human being is sacred, i.e., humans are created in the image of God? If one wrongly takes the life of a human being is there a severe penalty for committing that crime/sin, aka: murder?

Secondly, Does Scripture teach that men (generic) are not only permitted but even counseled and even commanded to arm themselves in order to defend themselves and others in order to preserve their life? OR, does Scripture teach passivism, i.e., we are to allow anyone to harm or even kill us without offering any and/or all resistance in defense?

Now, once you establish one of those two presuppositions it is an easy task to establish if "guns" are something we are to own and use.

Just to name a couple, without looking at the stats but I'm pretty positive that cars and alcohol kill more people than guns. So should we outlaw all vehicles because a few uses them recklessly, and the same with alcohol. Guns are only the problem in that the people who misuses them has the serious problems.

Is the gun the sin, or the person?

Right... people are killed with more knives than guns. In fact, the #1 "weapon" that is used to kill someone is "hands and feet". Perhaps they should be banned first? [Linked Image]

Think that more people have been killed in car and truck accidents over the years, so should we as Christians have those also outlawed as being dangerous weapons?

Blaming a gun for someone's death is like me blaming my fork for making me fat. But that fork is mighty tasty. smile laugh Or blaming my pen or pencil for failing a math test.
