A couple of years ago I came across a statement made by a feminist in which she said that they, the feminists, will "break" the church with the issue of the ordination of women in church office. However, I can't find it again and hope that one of you (with a better memory than me!) know who said something like that and where I can find the reference.

Don't know that this is the article that you had in mind but perhaps it will help.

I'm interested in this topic. If our beliefs and practices are based on scripture, and a bishop must be the husband of one wife, does that exclude women from holding the office of bishop? Likewise, a deacon must be the husband of one wife. Deaconesses are mentioned in the Bible, but requirements for that position are not mentioned.

Lynda,

This subject of women in office has been discussed many times here. grin

There are a couple of salient articles on The Highway website which you might benefit from reading:

- Women as Officebearers
- Hermeneutics of Women in Ordained Office
