That seems to be a new strand in calvinisn, and what makes it considered to be "new?" Are there any real difference between that and bomal covenant theology?

NCT has been around for a little while now with its major proponents being Jon Zens and John Resienger, although that has probably changed.

See here: Thread on NCT.

I have never heard of "bomal covenant theology".

When NCT states that they no longerhold to the Sabbath, neither would I for saturday as worship day unto the Lord, as mine is Sunday, so they see no speacial day set aside anymore for worship and assembling together then?

There are only three days on which it is acceptable to worship: Saturdays, Sundays, and
weekdays
!

There is no such thing as preaching Christ and Him crucified, unless we preach what nowadays is called Calvinism. It is a nickname to call it Calvinism; Calvinism is the gospel, and nothing else. - C.H. Spurgeon

Correct, since according to their hermeneutic, the Ten Commandments are not applicable to the NT Church UNLESS they are repeated in the NT by Christ. They bifurcate the "law" into 2 major categories; OT and NT, which is a fatal error since there is only ONE Lawgiver (Isa 33:22; Jam 4:12), who was the preincarnate Son of God at Sinai and the incarnate Son of God in the NT (Heb 12:17ff). Thus, according to NCT the 4th Commandment is not mentioned in the NT so no Christian is bound to keep it. However, it IS mentioned in the NT. grin

FYI, in neither Exodus 20 nor Deuteronomy 5 does it state on which day of the week the Sabbath is to be kept. All it says is that you shall work 6 days and rest on the 7th day. If you are interested in learning more about the Sabbath, there are many excellent articles on The Highway that deal with that subject including Francis Nigel Lee's tome, The Covenental Sabbath with footnotes.

Read the 4th Commandment in Exodus 20 and then read it in Deut. 5. Notice that in the first giving of the Law to Moses in Exodus, it is addressed to the redeemed people of God. But in the second giving of the Law in Deut 5, it is given by God as the Creator, thus addressed to everyone without exception. So, the Sabbath is to be observed by those in union with Christ and those who are outside of Christ. The entire world is to observe the Sabbath Day, which is now called the "Christian Sabbath" due to Christ being raised from the dead on the first day of the week and thus the new covenant was inaugurated.

See Edwards defense of the Sabbath in this 3 part series:

- The Perpetuity and Change of the Sabbath Part 1

- The Perpetuity and Change of the Sabbath Part 2

- The Perpetuity and Change of the Sabbath Part 3

Look at the many "8th day" prototypes in the Old Testament that prefigure the change. Jewish males were circumsized on the EIGHTH DAY of life, etc. There are several more examples of 8th-day ordinances that all prefigure the Lord's Day.
