Hi All,

I am Pastor of a conservative, reformed, congregational church in a liberal denomination. Our church has recently decided to form an exploratory committee to look for other options of wider church association. We are a rather unique church. We are in the US. We were once German Reformed, thus there are similarities to Lutheran in worship, yet reformed in doctrine. We are socially conservative, but not nit picky over things like dancing and drinking wine, etc. We are theologically conservative, but not fundamentalists. Are there reformed denominations out there that we could consider? Web links or addresses would be helpful.

Here is a link to a web page with a few of them. I don't know a lot about them other than the PCA and I found this list via a google search.

bestrech,

There are several "Reformed" denominations out there to choose from to be sure. And one, which you may not be familiar with but which may be worth pursuing is the URCNA (United Reformed Church of North America). One of our esteemed Moderators, RefDoc, is a member of a congregation in that denomination and doubtless he could help you with most of your questions that you might have about it.

Here is the website for RefDoc's church: Trinity URC.

Here is the URC website: United Reformed Church of North America.

In His Grace,

I looked over the URCNA and our church would agree with everything there. My only concern would be that the denom we are in had real nice pension plan for me. I'm not sure our church could take on that burden. But I will definitely present this as one of the ones to look at.

If you have a German Reformed heritage you might want to try the Reformed Church in the US www.rcus.org.

If you are more congregationally inclined you could try the Conservative Congregational Christian Conference http://ccccusa.ccccsitelaunch.com/. You could also try the Fellowship of Independent REformed Evangelicals http://www.firefellowship.org/.

There are a couple of other Reformed denominations with a Dutch heritage, try the Free Reformed www.frcna.org or the Heritage Netherlands Reformed www.hnrc.org.

On the presbyterian side, as well as the PCA www.pcanet.org you have the Orthodox Presbyterians www.opc.org and the Associated Reformed Presbyterians www.arpsynod.org.

Perhaps your deicision might be influenced by having other churches in one of these denominations near to you. If you post your location on the church locator forum I'll see what's around.

Regards,

James.
