In Mark 16:1 it says that Salome went to Jesus tomb to anoint his body with Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James. Is Salome the person that asked for John the Baptist's head on a silver platter? Is the Salome in Mark 16:1 the same person? If so, what is the evidence that they are the same person? <br><br>

From the ISBE.....<br>Salome<br><br>sa-lō´mḗ (Σαλώμη, Salṓmē):<br>(1) One of the holy women who companied with Jesus in Galilee, and ministered to Him (Mar_15:40, Mar_15:41). She was present at the crucifixion (Mar_15:40), and was among those who came to the tomb of Jesus on the resurrection morning (Mar_16:1, Mar_16:2). Comparison with Mat_27:56 clearly identifies her with the wife of Zebedee. It is she, therefore, whose ambitious request for her sons James and John is recorded in Mat_20:20-24; Mar_10:35-40. From Joh_19:25 many infer that she was a sister of Mary, the mother of Jesus (thus Meyer, Luthardt, Alford); others (as Godet) dispute the inference.<br>(2) Salome was the name of the daughter of Herodias who danced before Herod, and obtained as reward the head of John the Baptist (Mat_14:3-11; Mar_6:17-28; compare Josephus, Ant., XVIII, v, 4). She is not named in the Gospels.<br>
