Forgive my Englishness <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> but are Landmark baptists the same as the Strict and Particular Baptists here in Blighty?

Two central issues in LANDMARKISM are "church authority" and "church succession." According to Landmarkers, there is no authority in either the Word or from the Spirit for doing the work of the Great Commission; this authority comes solely from the local Baptist church (not unlike your Presbyterianism BookMark). Landmarkism involves the authenticity of a church as an organization, the administration and administrator of baptism, and the ordination of ministers. It is asserted that a church is unscriptural, baptism is invalid, and ministers are not duly ordained unless there is proper Church Authority for them. Consequently, the Landmark view is that Baptist Churches ALONE have the authority of Christ to evangelize, baptize and carry out all aspects of the commission.

Sounds more like a pseudo-christian cult than a Christian sect.

Perhaps it was Joe's typo: your which should have been you that confused you? What Joe was saying, if I may be so bold to answer for him, is that YOUR attitude toward Baptists is simply the twin of that held by Landmark Baptists. They disdain Presbyterianism just as much as you disdain Credo-Baptist churches. Both are quick and prolific with their vitriolic comments respectively.

Methinks you just shot yourself in the foot, and perhaps even in a more vital area! (i.e., your head), with your typing Landmark Baptists as ". . . a pseudo-christian cult than a Christian sect."

You have very openly bashed your Baptist bothers and sisters on this board. You think you already have the answers and yet you are very far removed "still" from what one would call a true Calvinist. Mark you still are hyper in many ways and liberal in others. Your views still need refining and nurturing (all of our views do) not to be a hyper-Calvinist/liberal.
