Sorry, but I wasn't thinking of Jude 6 but rather from more direct statements from Peter and Revelation,

Revelation 12:7-9 (KJV) "And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him."

Revelation 20:2-3 (ASV) "And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and cast him into the abyss, and shut [it], and sealed [it] over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time."
It seems quite clear to me when I read these passages in both the Greek many English translations that Satan and the angels which rebelled against God with him were cast out rather than left voluntarily and/or willingly.
