Yes, others found it somewhat wanting, but if you will notice I never responded to it (A Paradox). I guess it is all in how you interpret Piper's article. I found him saying very much the same thing as Edwards and other Reformers have said. His article still does not get rid of the mystery of the wills of God and the love of God, et. al., but I was hoping it would help the paradigm shift that Howard is presently dealing with. As I said to Howard, "Here's an article that may help."

Now that said, I have disagreed with Piper on several other of his books.

Thanks Joe. I've printed it off and will read it this weekend.

Personally , I am quite happy with : Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven (Matt 6:10)

Regarding Voluntas decreti (God's secret will or the will of his decree) , I am also very happy when Paul says : O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgements, and his ways past finding out ! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor ? (Romans 11:33,34kjv).

howard

I also know that you would agree that just because things are mysteries it does not mean we do not attempt to understand them more--and thus you printed out the article.....For me Piper and many others before him assisted me.
